Are stainless steel nails necessary for cladding?

Yes, stainless steel nails are strongly recommended for external cladding. They resist corrosion caused by moisture and weather exposure, helping to prevent staining and deterioration over time. This ensures a longer-lasting installation and reduces the risk of fixings failing or needing to be replaced.

Can Balau cladding be used for modern and traditional designs?

Yes, the choice of profile allows Balau to suit a wide range of styles. Shadow gap and batten profiles are often used for more contemporary builds, while shiplap and TG&V create a more traditional look.

Can batten cladding be used internally?

Yes, batten cladding works well inside as well as out. It’s often used for feature walls, ceilings, and room dividers, where the spacing between boards adds depth and texture to otherwise flat surfaces.

Can battens be installed both vertically and horizontally?

Yes, battens can be installed in either direction. Vertical layouts tend to emphasise height, while horizontal arrangements can make a facade feel wider. The choice usually comes down to the proportions of the building and the overall design intent.

Can hardwood cladding be used indoors?

Absolutely. Many of our customers use cladding for interior feature walls – especially with Bamboo Symphony or Thermory Ash.
