About Round Wood of Mayfield

For over 30 years, Round Wood of Mayfield has been crafting oak-framed buildings, timber products, and garden features from our ancient woodland in East Sussex. Rooted in traditional methods and built to last, our range combines natural materials with modern craftsmanship.

Where It Started

Round Wood began with a passion for timber and a small mill set within the Sussex countryside. From those early days, the business has grown steadily, expanding into oak-framed buildings, timber products, and outdoor features. While the range has evolved, our approach has not. We remain an independent, local business, still rooted in the same woodland, with a clear focus on quality, durability, and doing things properly.

Built From the Mill

Our work is centred around three core areas:

Made With Care

Quality starts with how things are made. Our oak frames are built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, secured with oak pegs and shaped with careful attention to detail. Each structure is fully planed and dry-assembled in our workshop before delivery, ensuring accuracy and a precise fit on site.

Alongside these methods, we use modern machinery to achieve consistency across every component. This balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern technique allows us to produce work that is both structurally sound and built to last.

Working Responsibly

We take a considered approach to sustainability across our products and processes. Our timber is responsibly sourced, with FSC-certified options available. Waste from our mill is minimised and repurposed, with offcuts and sawdust used to produce wood fuel or power our biomass system. We also offer thermo-treated timber, providing a sturdy alternative without the use of chemicals.
