CONDITIONS OF SALE
By placing business with Round Wood of Mayfield Ltd, you acknowledge and agree to the following conditions of sale. You also confirm that our conditions of sale override any terms & conditions you may have.
1) Return Rights
a) For distance selling purchases (online, phone, or mail order), customers have the right to cancel their order within 14 days of receiving the goods, with a further 14 days to return them. No reason needs to be provided, and a full refund including standard delivery costs will be issued within 14 days of receiving the returned goods.
b) For faulty goods, customers have the right to reject the items and receive a full refund if reported within 30 days of purchase.
c) For non-faulty goods purchased in-store, returns are accepted at Round Wood of Mayfield’s discretion.
2) Return Conditions and Process
a) For distance selling returns within the cancellation period, products must be unused and in their original condition. The cost of returning the goods is the customer’s responsibility unless the items are faulty.
b) For discretionary returns (non-faulty, non-distance selling), all products must be unused, undamaged, and packaged appropriately. Returns must be pre-approved by Round Wood of Mayfield.
c) Restocking fees of 10% apply only to discretionary returns. No restocking fees apply to returns of faulty goods or distance selling cancellations within the statutory period.
3) Bespoke Items
a) While cancellation rights for bespoke items end at the point of order placement, this does not affect your statutory rights regarding faulty goods.
b) A 25% restocking fee applies only to discretionary cancellations or returns of bespoke items, not to returns due to faults or defects.
4) Shipping Costs
a) For distance selling returns within the cancellation period, the original standard delivery cost will be refunded. Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.
b) For damaged or faulty goods, Round Wood of Mayfield will cover both the original delivery costs and return shipping costs.
c) For all other returns, shipping fees (both initial and return) are the customer’s responsibility.
5) Faulty or Damaged Goods
a) Your Rights Within First 30 Days:
– You have the legal right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of receiving them
– You are entitled to a full refund if you return faulty items within this period
– This right applies regardless of our standard return policy
– This is your ‘short-term right to reject’
b) Your Rights Between 30 Days and 6 Months:
– After the first 30 days but within 6 months, you must allow us the opportunity to repair or replace the faulty goods
– If the repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund
– During this period, we assume the fault was present at delivery unless we can prove otherwise
c) Your Rights After 6 Months:
– Claims can still be made up to 6 years from purchase (5 years in Scotland)
– You will need to prove the fault was present at the time of delivery
– While the law doesn’t specify how to prove this, we will consider any reasonable evidence you can provide
d) If goods arrive damaged:
– Contact us in writing (preferably email) as soon as possible after delivery
– Provide photographic evidence of damage
– Damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery to demonstrate it occurred during transit
e) For damaged or faulty goods:
– We will cover all return shipping costs
– Where return shipping is required, we will confirm in writing that any transit damage during return won’t affect your right to refund
– You may alternatively return items to our store location, subject to prior arrangement
6) Product Characteristics
a) Many products are manufactured using naturally occurring substances and often by hand. While variation in characteristics including colour, size, texture, density, grading, and weight is normal, this does not affect your statutory rights regarding merchantable quality and fitness for purpose.
b) Samples provided are indicative only and natural variation is to be expected.
7) Liability and Warranties
a) Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
b) While we recommend employing experienced tradespeople for installation, your statutory rights regarding the quality and fitness for purpose of the goods themselves remain unaffected.
c) In case of faulty goods, Round Wood of Mayfield’s liability includes the cost of the goods and any direct, reasonable costs incurred as a result of the fault.
8) Inspection and Evidence
a) Round Wood of Mayfield must be given the opportunity to inspect any allegedly faulty goods and/or be supplied with photographic evidence.
b) Inspection costs will only be charged if goods are found to have been incorrectly fitted or used with unapproved products.
9) Installation and Acceptance
a) Installation or use of products does not waive your statutory rights regarding goods that were faulty at the time of delivery.
b) However, damage caused by incorrect installation or use will not be covered under warranty.
